The holidays may look a little different for everyone this year, but we are excited to be able to bring some socially distanced fun to downtown Owensboro! Returning for another year- the "Elf on the Shelf" Scavenger Hunt! Elves will be hidden around downtown and we're asking you to help us find them!

This year, the scavenger hunt will become a weekend-long event in order to space out crowds and give participants more opportunities to complete the hunt. All elves will be visible from the outdoors in order to keep indoor crowds to a minimum. Begin hunting on Friday, December 4 at 12:00 noon and continue through Sunday, December 6 at 8:00 PM.

The hunt will be an Instagram hunt, so no need to preregister- just check the @cityofowensboro Instagram page for complete rules and details. Clues will be posted on Instagram beginning on Friday. Grand prize winner will receive two reserved seating tickets for both the 2021 Owensboro Air Show and the 2021 Owensboro HydroFair presented by Jagoe Homes, and more than $80 in gift cards for downtown restaurants!

In compliance with the limit on crowds for events, the Christmas tree lighting ceremony will take place virtually this year. On Saturday, December 5 at 5:00PM, everyone is invited to watch the live-stream of the tree lighting on the City of Owensboro’s Facebook page.
