Friday November 18, 2022 12:51 PM
The staff at the Dugan Best Community Recreation Center wants to meet you!
Are you looking for a safe atmosphere where children, teens, and adults in the community can gather year-round and enjoy a variety of recreational activities for all ages?
The Dugan Best Community Recreation Center will host a Meet-and-Greet event on Saturday, November 26 during the regular operating hours of 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. to showcase all the Center has to offer. This is the perfect time to tour the facility, meet the staff, complete registration cards for the 2023 calendar year, and participate in games and activities for all ages. Registration cards are purely for informational purposes; there are no registration fees. Plus, all attendees and families who complete a new registration card will have a chance to win a family fun basket created by the Owensboro Parks and Recreation Department which includes passes to Park’s facilities, fidgets, fun games, and more.
If you’re still on the fence, let us tell you what is truly great about the Dugan Best Community Recreation Center. It offers a year-round indoor facility centered in the middle of Dugan Best Park that has a large open green space, an open-air shelter, outdoor tennis and basketball courts, a softball field, and a new playground. The community center is supervised by an experienced and caring team of full-time and part-time staff who are all trained in first aid and CPR. It has a gymnasium with a basketball court; a game room, complete with pool tables, air hockey, foosball, and computer stations; a fitness room, complete with free weights, a treadmill, a recumbent bike, and a leg press machine; a conference room which is available to rent and great for crafts and meals; and a teen room.
In addition, monthly programs and community activities such as Trunk or Treat, A Family Christmas Dinner, Candy Cane Hunt, Fall Festival, Back to School Bash and so much more are offered.
The Dugan Best Community Recreation Center is also home to the Breaking the Cycle mentor group, an organization started by Brionna Greer in 2019 to help inspire youth ages 9 through 17 to go after their dreams and prepare for the future.
