Owensboro Parks and Recreation Offering Family Fun Activities During Fall Break
The Owensboro Parks and Recreation team has planned a variety of activities for those staying in Owensboro during Fall Break. Find more information at owensboroparks.org.
Selfie Scavenger Hunt
Following the success of last year’s HAMBUSHED Scavenger Hunt, the department created the Fall Finds Selfie Scavenger Hunt. Families are encouraged to get creative with their selfies at each location listed below and post images on their social media account using #OBKYParks.
- Monday, October 9: Smothers Park – Find the biggest BASS on the OHIO
- Tuesday, October 10: Moreland Park – Find the Minion 10:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, October 11: Edge Ice Center – Show your best Zombie Walk outside The Edge during public session time 1:00-3:30 p.m.
- Thursday, October 12: Legion Park – Find the Elf on the Shelf at East Shelter 10:00 a.m. - Noon
- Friday, October 13: Ben Hawes Golf Course – Find the Gopher at Pro Shop
Each photo you post will enter your name in the daily drawing for one of 5 prize baskets. The Grand Prize Drawing will take place live on our Facebook page Friday Afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
Skate at the Edge Ice Center
The Edge Ice Center will offer special afternoon sessions on October 10, 11, and 12 from 1:00-3:30 p.m. Admission and skate rental is $7 per person; non-skating guardians are $2. Attendees will be entered into daily drawings for a Family Fun Pass which includes 4 admissions, skate rentals, popcorn, and small drinks. Additional daily promotions include free popcorn with the purchase of a paid admission, free drinks at the concession stand, and free admission passes.
Dugan Best Recreation Center
The Dugan Best Recreation Center, located at 1003 Omega Street, will be open Monday - Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Daily special activities start at 1:00 p.m., and include Halloween-themed arts and crafts, Taco Tuesday, sports games and tournaments, and a movie day. Open gym, fitness room, computer stations, and the game room will be available throughout the week. Participants under the age of 9 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over the age of 17. There are no fees to use the center.
