Owensboro Parks and Recreation Winter Activities for Youth
Esports League
Owensboro Parks and Recreation is offering a FREE Winter Mission Control Esports League for ages 8 and up. Players can register through the Mission Control App and play their favorite games from their own devices at home on Thursday nights at 8:00 p.m. The league will take place January 4-February 1. Featured games include: NHL 24, Fortnite, Apex, Rocket League, The Show 23, Madden, NBA 2K 24, and FIFA 23. To register, visit owensboroparks.org/sports/mission-control-leagues/. Holiday Camp
Registration is open for Holiday Break Camp for ages 5-12. Camp is open weekdays December 19-30, from 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Campers will take a field trip to the Edge Ice Center, play games, make crafts, and enjoy a Holiday Party with a special visit from the Grinch. Early drop off begins at 7:00 a.m. for $2 extra, per child, per day. Breakfast, morning snack and afternoon snack will be provided. Campers will need to bring a daily sack lunch. A weekly fee of $100, plus tax is due at the time of registration, along with a $55 annual registration fee if your child has not attended any of the other 2023 camps. Learn to Skate at the Edge Ice Center
The Edge Ice Center’s Learn to Skate Program offers classes that range from beginner to advanced (ages 3 to adult) and teaches recreational skills, hockey, and figure skating. The program follows guidelines set forth by the I.S.I (Ice Skating Industry), the nation’s largest provider of recreational skating programs. Classes take place on Tuesdays, with the exception of Freestyle 1-10 taking place on Mondays. The next session will begin the week of November 27. Registration deadline is November 22.
