The Owensboro Neighborhood Alliances will once again host the annual neighborhood cleanups. The cleanups will take place from 6:00 -11:00 a.m. on the dates listed below. All residents in the cleanup areas are encouraged to help beautify the neighborhood by picking up litter along sidewalks and streets on their scheduled cleanup day. Boundaries for your neighborhood alliance can be found at https://services.owensboro.org/maps/citizen-information.
The Sanitation Department will provide free curbside pick-up to alliance residential customers for junk furniture, appliances, tires, and other items. Place items curbside by the Friday night prior to your scheduled cleanup. If you have large items, please call CityAction at 270-687-4444 or e-mail cityaction@owensboro.org BY THE WEDNESDAY BEFORE YOUR CLEANUP to schedule a pick-up. Smaller items must be bagged or boxed. Sanitation crews CANNOT collect construction debris/materials, yard waste, dirt, paint, or any type of liquid.

Wendell Foster Half Marathon & 5K

Telephone: 270-852-1458We are excited to present the 5th annual Wendell Foster Half Marathon and 5K, presented by Owensboro Health! Both routes are flat and fast, winding around scenic parts of Owensboro. The 13.1 half marathon and 3.1 5K are both fully supported, including some full and partial road closures. The race will start and finish on the waterfront next to the beautiful Smothers Park, which offers three signature fountains and an award-winning playground. Water stations will be conveniently placed along the course, and both races will be professionally timed. Big and bold finisher medals will be given to those who complete the course. In addition to the medals, prize money will be awarded to the top competitors in both the half marathon and 5K distances. For the half marathon distance, there will be a 4-hour course time limit to complete the race. You must be twelve years of age on race day to register for the half marathon. There is no age restriction for the 5K, or for rider athletes in the Stroller-Division. When you run with us, you are directly supporting Wendell Foster's mission of empowering people with disabilities! From all of us at Wendell Foster- thank you!
