Owensboro Parks & Recreation Department to offer 6th Annual Owensboro Memorial Day Half Marathon

The Owensboro Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the 6 annual Owensboro Memorial Day Half Marathon on Saturday, May 23. The race will begin and end at Kentucky Wesleyan College, circling around the city of Owensboro as it completes its’ 13.1 mile route.
The entry fee is $50 per person on or before May 8 and $60 per person May 9 – 21 at noon. Registrations will not be accepted on race day. The registration fee includes entry in the race, event tech-shirt, breakfast buffet after the race for participants only, finisher’s medal, and eligibility to win door prizes. Participants must pre-register by calling the Parks and Recreation Department at 270-687-8700, or by registering online at www.active.com.
The race will start at 7 a.m. Residents are encouraged to check-out the race route at www.owensboroparks.org and be alert for runners if driving the race route that morning. The last runner should cross the finish line by 10 a.m. The race will be chip-timed.
Awards will be presented to the winning male and female runners, Masters and Grandmaster division winners, as well as the top three finishers in each age division. All runners who finish the 13.1 miles in 3 hours or less will receive a finisher’s medal.
The Owensboro Parks and Recreation Department is also offering business and organizations the opportunity to participate in the event by sponsoring one of 13 mile markers along the course.
A $100 sponsorship will allow the business or organization to display company signage at its’ marker and even invite employees’ family and friends to cheer on the expected 300+ runners. Volunteers are needed!
